Today 6th January:

Rain across Shetland turning lighter and more patchy, brighter across Orkney with sunny interval and blustery showers, which will become more isolated during the afternoon. Windy with westerly gales across Orkney at first. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Tonight:

Dry but rather cloudy during the evening, although some clear spells for Orkney, then rain spreading from the southwest overnight, clearing Orkney later. South to southeasterly winds strengthening. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Saturday 7th January:

Perhaps some brightness at first for Orkney, otherwise mainly cloudy with rain at times through daylight hours, clearing later in the afternoon. Occasionally strong southerly winds. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Unsettled with sunny intervals and showers, some heavy and prolonged on Sunday with gales for a time. Showers becoming more isolated on Tuesday with more in the way of sunshine.
