Today 11th January:

Frequent blustery showers continuing through the day, with some longer spells of rain across Shetland. West or southwest gales, severe over Shetland at first, slowly easing during the day. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Tonight:

Further showers at first, mostly dying out to leave dry night in most places with clear periods. It will be a cold night with light winds. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

Thursday 12th january:

Dry for much of the day with sunny spells and light winds. Thickening cloud in the afternoon will bring rain to Orkney, reaching Shetland early evening. Southeasterly winds freshening later. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Sunny spells, lighter winds and a few showers Friday. Showers or longer spells of rain on Saturday. Strong easterly winds. Turning colder on Sunday, strong northerly winds and wintry showers.
