Deaths Involving #Covid Weekly Update

Published by National Records of Scotland on 23rd of February 2023 the deaths involving Covid are as follows:

  • As of 19th February 2023, there have been a total of 16,834 deaths registered in Scotland where the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) was mentioned on the death certificate.
  • In week 07 there were 48 deaths involving COVID-19 (13 more than the previous week). 
  • The provisional total number of all deaths registered in Scotland in week 07 of 2023 (13th to 19th February) was 1,263 (2 or 0.2% above the 5-year average).  

Those figures in more detail:

Age 45 – 64: 6 deaths, 2 Female, 4 Male

Age 65 – 74: 5 deaths, 1 Female, 4 Male

Age 75 – 84: 12 deaths, 6 Female, 6 Male

Age 85+ : 25 deaths, 12 Female, 13 Male

There were 8 deaths in Care Homes, 5 at Home/Non Institutional Setting, 34 deaths in Hospital and 1 death at an other Institution.

There were 1,263 deaths due to all causes. An excess of 2 over the 5 year average.

Of the 48 deaths involving Covid, Covid was the main cause in 27 of them

There were 139 deaths due to respiratory causes.
