Bright start across Shetland, otherwise cloudy. Dry much of this morning and early afternoon, just the odd patch of light rain. More persistent rain reaching Orkney later this afternoon, extending to Shetland this evening. Southeasterly winds becoming strong this afternoon. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Tonight:

Cloudy with the more persistent, heavier rain becoming confined to Shetland later tonight. Rain gradually dying out over Orkney. Mild overnight with winds becoming lighter. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Thursday 30th March:

Shetland will remain cloudy with heavier rain in the morning, dying out during the afternoon. Orkney will be mostly dry with bright spells developing. A milder day with lighter winds. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Rather cloudy on Friday with mist patches, a little drizzle and fresh easterly winds. Mostly dry and brighter over the weekend with some sunshine and lighter winds. .
