Dull, overcast, windy start to week with periods of rain that turns heavier at times. Gradually clearing to a mix of sunshine and showers that reach Orkney around late morning, Shetland by late afternoon, as winds veer southerly and ease. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Tonight:

Scattered showers and clear spells for the evening and night. Winds light and variable during evening, picking up to a fresh north to northwesterly by dawn. Minimum temperature 2 °C.

Tuesday 11th April:

A fine day with plenty of sunny spells and easing winds with showers isolated, light and mostly restricted to the morning. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Showers, occasionally merging to longer, heavier periods of rain at times, Wednesday and Thursday, tending to turn drier Friday. Strong to gale easterly winds Wednesday, easing generally light Thursday.
