Some bright or sunny spells and a few showers, these occasionally heavy especially across Orkney, Shetland seeing the best of the sunshine in the afternoon. Light southwesterly winds. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Tonight:

Turning cloudy for Shetland and remaining so for Orkney, frequent showers continuing for Orkney and some spreading north later in the night to Shetland. Minimum temperature 12 °C.

Saturday 1st July:

Showers clearing Orkney to leave a brighter day here but showery rain lingering for Shetland, becoming quite windy with brisk north westerlies. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Becoming quite windy on Sunday with the potential for gales. Remaining showery throughout although showers turning lighter later on Monday as a cool northerly sets in
