On the 2nd of July 1980 the film Airplane premiered.

The film, a spoof of the countless disaster movies of the era, has itself become a classic of its genre. Its plot and a great deal of its dialogue even came from an actual disaster movie ‘Zero Hour’.
It was written and directed by the brothers David and Jerry Zucker, and Jim Abrahams in their directorial debuts, and produced by Jon Davison.
Many stars of ‘disaster’ movies played roles in the film , mirroring their previous movie appearances.
It stars Robert Hays and Julie Hagerty and features Leslie Nielsen, Robert Stack, Lloyd Bridges, Peter Graves, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Lorna Patterson.
Over time the movie has lasted as a comedy classic.
