Today 10th August:

A pleasant day with all staying dry with good bright and sunny spells, despite the rather cloudy start for Orkney. Winds light and variable, picking up to a fresh southeasterly across Orkney towards early evening. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Tonight:

Good late sunshine then clear spells that continue over Shetland overnight. However low cloud and periods of occasionally heavy rain extending across Orkney before dawn as the southeast winds strengthen. Minimum temperature 12 °C.

Friday 11th August:

Cloudy for much of morning with occasional rain and risk thunderstorms. Mix of brighter spells and showers reaching Orkney late morning, Shetland late afternoon, as winds ease and veer southwesterly. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Unsettled with showers that merge to longer periods of rain at times. Continuing risk of thunderstorms. Winds relatively light. Temperatures seasonally respectable.
