Shetland starting dry, but rain spreading from Orkney in the morning with winds falling light. Brighter spells and scattered showers following to Orkney in afternoon as fresh westerly winds develop. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Tonight:

Occasional showers through this evening, some heavy, but the showers becoming lighter and well scattered overnight. Some clear spells developing, winds fresh at times across Orkney, mainly light in Shetland. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Thursday 5th October:

A mainly dry and bright morning, although cloud thickening across Orkney. Outbreaks of rain then developing through the afternoon and evening, occasionally heavy. Winds gradually freshening. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Most;y cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle on Friday, although some drier spells possible in Orkney. Drier and brighter on Saturday and possibly Sunday.
