Today 8th October:

A bright morning with sunny spells across Shetland. Orkney too starts bright but cloud soon increasing bringing outbreaks of mainly light rain by mid-morning. The rain then reach southern Shetland this afternoon, but the far north remains dry and bright. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Tonight:

Rather cloud with outbreaks of mostly light rain this evening, the rain becoming increasingly patchy overnight with, especially across Shetland some clear spells developing. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Monday 9th October:

Rather cloudy start with, especially for Orkney, patchy, mainly light rain. During the afternoon there will be more in the way of bright or sunny spells developing. Freshening southwesterly winds. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Cloudy with outbreaks of rain Tuesday then blustery showers as westerly gales develop later. Blustery showers Wednesday, perhaps severe gales for a time, the showers and winds easing on Thursday.
