Today 13th October:

Bright or sunny spells and scattered showers, heavy at times. Fresh to strong southwesterly winds veer northwesterly from the afternoon, increasing gale or severe gale in Orkney towards evening. Maximum temperature 11 °C.


Clear spells with showers continuing through the night, some heavy. Severe gale northwesterly winds spread to Shetland from late evening. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Saturday 14th October:

Cold and bright with continuing showers, these becoming wintry Saturday night. Severe gale winds ease from the afternoon. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Cloudy, cold but dry Sunday becoming milder with showery rain Monday then drier and brighter with a few showers Tuesday. Breezy.
