  1. And this morning we heard that two more folk we know – here in Orkney – have been laid low by Covid. They’re over the worst – thank goodness – recovering well.

    IT’S STILL WITH US

  2. To be honest, I very much doubt the numbers presented by PHS. Waning immunity, restricted uptake of boosters, no NPIs whatsoever (not even in healthcare settings) and lots of indoor mingling… it would be astonishing if Covid hospital admissions here were so low compared to other countries (for example Austria that continues to provide broken down data https://www.sari-dashboard.at/en/).
Every infection that is avoided, is a win. 15 hours in an ambulance before admission is a pain *somewhere* hence things should not be made worse by seeing a Covid infection as something one cannot avoid. One could still end up in hospital and this doesn’t ease the pressures in the NHS.

Unfortunately, there are no recent datasets available that would show how many infections are acquired in health and care settings and the associated mortality datasets have also not been updated.
Perhaps decision makers (especially the ones who decided to abandon mask mandates in health care settings) just suffer from the in multiple studies described neurological impacts and cognitive decline that can come as a consequence of a Covid infection?
