A mix of showers and brighter spells at first. Showers dwindling by late morning as higher cloud feeds from the west, which thickens to bring periods of rain for the afternoon. Winds west to southwest fresh to strong. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Tonight:

A cloudy and very mild night with occasional patchy light rain, focused across Shetland. Winds west to southwest strong occasionally touching gale force. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Saturday 16th December:

Mild, cloudy and windy with occasional rain, mainly over Shetland for morning and Orkney in the afternoon and turning heavy at times. Strong to gale southwest winds easing light later. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Sunday overcast with occasional rain with winds relatively light. Monday and Tuesday brings frequent and blustery showers, brought on gale to severe gale westerly winds.
