Mostly cloudy with frequent, blustery showers, occasionally heavy with hail and risk of thunder. Some bright or perhaps sunny spells, these most likely in afternoon. Cold, with strong northwest winds. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Tonight:

Scattered blustery showers with some clear spells. Showers often heavy in the evening and start of the night, turning lighter later in the night. Strong to gale force northwest winds. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

Wednesday 20th December:

A few showers early morning, but these soon dying out. Some bright or sunny spells, but cloud increases across Orkney with rain by evening. Severe gales overnight. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Severe gale or storm force winds Thursday, easing through Friday and Saturday. Showers, turning wintry Thursday night. Snow showers Friday and Saturday.
