Snow for Orkney, rain later.

Today 23rd December:

Shetland will have a mainly dry bright but cold day, with a few isolated snow showers. Orkney will be cloudy with outbreaks of sleet and snow, turning to rain as southeasterly winds freshen. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Tonight:

Shetland clouding over with wintry showers giving way to outbreaks of rain, with lying snow thawing overnight, strong southeast winds. Further rain over Orkney then clearer by morning. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

Sunday 24th December:

Rain clearing Shetland by dawn then a bright day with sunny intervals and occasional blustery rain showers, strong to gale southwesterly winds, perhaps severe over Orkney in evening. Milder. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

After some overnight rain, and a thaw over Shetland, Sunday and Monday will be windy with sunny intervals and rain showers. Tuesday less windy, bright, a few showers.
