Today 30th December:

A mix of scattered showers and brighter spells for the morning. Most staying dry for the afternoon as higher cloud spreads from the south and winds veer east and strengthen. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Tonight:

Band of rain extending to Orkney during the evening, then Shetland overnight, which occasionally turns heavy driven by gale to severe gale east to southeast winds. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Sunday 31st December🔔 :

Overcast with driving rain, occasionally heavy and across Shetland persistent. East to southeast winds gale to severe gale over Shetland, markedly lighter for Orkney. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Unsettled with showers that merge to longer periods of rain, particularly on Wednesday where it turns wintry across Shetland. Occasional gales, and for Wednesday severe gales.
