Remaining mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain, most persistent and occasionally heavy across Orkney through the evening. Rain across Shetland may turn to sleet or snow at times. Remaining windy. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

Wednesday 3rd January:

Mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain across Orkney, with sleet or snow possible across Shetland, although the northern Shetland may see some brighter spells. Occasionally severe southeasterly gales easing. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Thursday continues rather cloudy with occasional rain but winds slowly easing. Early cloud and rain Friday then brighter in afternoon and through Saturday with a few showers and light winds.
