Cloudy with a few bright spells, showers merging into longer periods of rain at times becoming drier over Orkney late morning and Shetland late afternoon. Strong southerly winds ease and turn westerly in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Tonight:

The night will be mainly cloudy and dry with some clear spells and the chance of a few showers, these mostly over Shetland. Breezy. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Sunday 7th January:

Cloudy with sunny spells and the occasional shower. A breezy morning with the wind falling light in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Mainly dry with sunny spells becoming cloudy from late Tuesday, an isolated light shower is possible at times. Cold with light winds.
