Today 8th January:

A fine day with most staying dry, with only a few light showers appearing across Northern Isles. Sunny spells increasing into afternoon, particularly across Orkney. Temperatures may be highest of the whole UK today. Light west to southwest breezes. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Tonight:

Mainly dry, but the odd light shower may appear. Good clear spells and light winds, but most, if not all, should avoid a frost come dawn. Minimum temperature 2 °C.

Tuesday 9th Janaury:

A touch cloudier than Monday with brighter rather than sunny spells developing. Most dry with only the odd light shower crossing the Northern Isles on the light northerly breezes. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Rather cloudy with of a few well scattered showers on Wednesday and Thursday, brought on freshening northerly winds. Winds backing west Friday bringing longer periods of rain.
