Today 18th January:

A bitterly cold day with frequent, occasionally heavy snow showers, although we may see fewer showers and more sunshine in the afternoon. Drifting snow likely in the strong northwesterly winds. Maximum temperature -2 °C.

Tonight:

Scattered snow showers and clear spells during this evening. Showers becoming more frequent during the early hours but drier in the north of Shetland by morning. Minimum temperature -4 °C.

Friday 19th January:

Frequent showers at first on Friday, mostly focused over Orkney, easing off by late morning. Sunny spells and a few snow showers through the rest of the day. Maximum temperature 0 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Bands of rain will push northeast across the Northern Isles on Saturday. Scattered showers Sunday morning with heavy rain pushing north during the afternoon. Scattered showers and sunny spells Monday.
