Early showers this morning then dry and sunny for a time. Clouding over this afternoon with rain reaching Orkney later, Shetland staying dry. Fresh to strong south or southwesterly winds, backing southeasterly later. Maximum temperature 7 °C.
Tonight:
Rain this evening, turning drier in the early hours with showers. Very windy with strong to gale southeasterly winds, backing westerly later and becoming severe gale, perhaps storm force. Minimum temperature 4 °C.
Monday 22nd January:
Cloudy start across Shetland. Otherwise a bright day with sunny intervals and frequent showers. A windy day with strong northwesterly winds, gales at first. Maximum temperature 7 °C.
Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:
After a dry start turning wet and windy in the afternoon, drier by evening. Windy with showers on Wednesday. Mainly dry on Thursday, further wind and rain likely later.
