Today 22nd January:

Cloudy start across Shetland with rain. Otherwise a bright day with sunny intervals and frequent showers, occasionally heavy with hail. Very windy with westerly gales, but severe gale to storm force at first. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Tonight:

Clear periods and scattered showers. Becoming drier with fewer showers during the early hours. Fresh to strong northwesterly winds, occasionally gale force across Orkney this evening, easing later. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Tuesday 23rd January:

After a mostly dry morning, cloud and rain will extend east in the afternoon followed by showers in the evening. Windy in the afternoon with strong to gale southerly winds. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Mainly dry and bright with just a few light showers on Wednesday, gales at first. Outbreaks of rain spreading east later Thursday along with southerly gales. Showers on Friday.
