The prevailing weather forecast, along with high tides and large waves means that flooding from the sea is expected. West winds also means that a combination of wave overtopping, spray and debris may result in the closure of the Churchill Barriers. A FLOOD WARNING has been issued for Longhope and Hoy.

A combination of high tides and prevailing weather conditions means that flooding from the sea is expected to affect low lying land, roads and properties in Hoy and Longhope. Conditions could become hazardous due to waves at the Ayre, as well as at other low lying roads including at North Ness, the Wyng and at Kirk Hope. Flooding impacts are expected around the time of high tide on Wednesday 24th at 07:45 GMT.

Any low-lying coastal roads and properties across the island exposed to the prevailing wind will be subject to significant wave spray impacts.
