Orkney Flood Warnings, Barriers & Sanday


FLOOD WARNING has been issued for Churchill Barriers.

The prevailing weather forecast, along with high tides and large waves means that flooding from the sea is expected. Severe gale force south-westerly winds also means that a combination of wave overtopping, spray and debris may result in the closure of the Churchill Barriers.

The highest risk is on either side of the high tide, which are on Wednesday, 31st January around 12:30 (GMT)

FLOOD WARNING has been issued for Sanday.

A combination of high tides and prevailing weather conditions means that flooding from the sea is expected on Sanday. Any low-lying coastal roads and properties across the island exposed to the prevailing wind will be subject to significant wave spray impacts.

Flooding impacts are expected around the time of Wednesday 31st January, afternoon?s high tide, which for this location will be around 14:00 (GMT)
