Sunshine and snow showers on Thursday

Today 8th February:

Very cold with sunny spells and further snow showers, these most frequent through the morning. Longer spells of sunshine through the afternoon especially for Shetland where there will only be the odd showers. Winds turning northeasterly and easing a touch. Maximum temperature 3 °C.

Tonight:

Still cold with a few snow showers, but more in the way of showers later in the night, especially over Orkney. Winds becoming easterly and increasing, becoming strong over Orkney. Minimum temperature -2 °C.

Friday 9th February:

Sunny spells and snow showers on Friday and very cold with easterly winds strengthening, likely reaching gale force over Orkney in the evening. Maximum temperature 3 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Windy on Saturday with sleet or snow, but turning to rain overnight. Cloudy with outbreaks of rain on Sunday and Monday, some snow on hills, but winds will gradually ease.
