On Monday, 25th of March, the Security Council of the United Nations, passed a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire for the month of Ramadan, the immediate and unconditional release of hostages and “the urgent need to expand the flow” of aid into Gaza. There were 14 votes in favour with the United States abstaining.
Despite the resolution for an immediate ceasefire, the slaughter of innocent civilians continued with a ‘double digit’ number of children killed on Monday night. UN Children’s Fund spokesperson James Elder said that 13,750 children have now been killed since 7th of October 2023.
Israeli airstrikes took place over Monday night and into Tuesday near the southernmost city of Rafah where some 1.5 million people now shelter.

The MPs will take part in a Question and Answer session for all interested in the Lower King St Hall, Kirkwall. All will be welcome.
Nadia Heath commented:
“At a time when there is a concerted effort by the mass media and many members of Parliament to distort what is actually happening in Gaza, it is excellent that we have the chance to hear our local MP, Alistair Carmichael, who has taken a deep involvement in Palestine over the years.”
People in Orkney will again gather on the steps of St Magnus Cathedral on Saturday, 30th March from 1 to 2pm. This will be an event linking up with the world wide community as part of #KitesForGaza
