The Point of Ness campsite in Stromness will re-open on Saturday 13th of April.

Improvements to the area which included the laying of  new sewage systems encountered substantial amounts of rock meaning the work has taken longer than expected. The improvements have been made possible with funding of  £126,000 from VisitScotland’s Rural Tourism Infrastructure Fund.

Orkney Islands Council operates two campsites and three hostels.

  • The Hoy Centre – a fully accessible 4 star hostel with ensuite rooms
  • Rackwick Hostel – located in the scenic Rackwick valley
  • The Birsay Hostel and Campsite – 3 star campsite and hostel accommodation in the north-west of the Orkney mainland
  • Point of Ness Campsite, Stromness – located a few minutes walk from Stromness town centre on the scenic shoreline

There are several other campsites and hostels in Orkney.
