It will be a rather cloudy day with scattered showers, heavy at times especially this morning. Also some drier brighter interludes with more sunshine this afternoon. Fresh southerly winds. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Tonight:

Rather cloudy with further showers at first. Showers will become fewer during the night with clear periods developing. Fresh southwest winds. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Thursday 8th August:

A mainly dry and much brighter day with plenty of sunshine. Clouds thickening later in the day with rain reaching Orkney early in the evening. Winds becoming light. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Sunny intervals and blustery showers on Friday and Saturday with strong, gusty southwest winds. Dry, bright Sunday morning with lighter winds, then rain later in the day.
