A cloudy day with outbreaks of rain, more persistent for Orkney with Shetland seeing some drier spells during the afternoon. Rain turning heavy at times during the morning. Strong southerly winds. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Tonight:

Staying cloudy and wet but rain becoming light and patchy at times during the evening, turning heavy again in the early hours before clearing from Orkney, strong winds continuing. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Tuesday 20th August:

Rain clearing and becoming bright and dry for a time, however afternoon showers are likely to develop. Winds will ease for a time. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Some fair weather on Wednesday morning before further wet and windy conditions later in the day, southwesterly gales likely. Rain clearing on Thursday but further wet and windy conditions Friday.
