When driving down to the Southern Isles, we’d noticed a new place to eat.   First we went for a walk at Glimps Holm. We’ve been there many times

…but there’s always something different on any walk.

On the shingle, someone had made a shell-henge

a small circle of shells

And then something we hadn’t noticed before – in the eroding bank, what looks like the remains of an old storm-beach – a bit of local history

a line of stone and shell in the coast line

Then on,  to Polly Kettle for lunch

The interior is light, airy and inviting

The menu was very tempting, and it was hard to choose what to have.  Mike had Falafel with Salad, Tahini dip and Lebanese Bread.  I had ‘Fool’ ( I have no idea why it’s called that!), which consists of Butterbeans in Tahini sauce with fresh lemon, garlic, chopped tomatoes and fresh parsley served with warm Pitta bread.

I asked Mike to look gleeful for the pic.  He said …’I don’t do gleeful’.  But when presented with the lovely grub…

There are also yummy cakes to be had

Every part to what we had to eat and drink was…delectable – that’s the best word I can think of to describe our meal.

The waitresses were friendly and helpful – Mike is lactose intolerant and one of the lassies advised on which cake he could have.

There was background music which suited the place and which wasn’t too loud – a common fault in eateries these days.

We’ll be back!
