Today 18th October:

A dry bright day with some sunny spells, the best of these over Orkney, with the chance of some cloudier periods over Shetland. Strengthening southerly winds, near gale force by evening. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Tonight:

Rain reaching Orkney early this evening will extend to Shetland by midnight accompanied by strong southerly winds. Drier less windy conditions will follow overnight, Orkney becoming clear. Minimum temperature 9 °C.

Saturday 19th October:

A dry bright day with some long sunny spells. Winds will be a moderate to fresh southerly. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Becoming wet and windy on Sunday with a chance of severe gales developing. Sunny intervals and blustery showers on Monday and Tuesday
