Today 3rd December:

Isolated light wintry showers soon dying out with a mainly dry and bright day. Chilly with a frost and ice risk on untreated surfaces at first. Southeast winds freshening later. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

Tonight:

Outbreak of rain soon reaching Orkney and spreading to Shetland by midnight. Turning showery overnight with some clearer spells. Strong south or southeast, turning westerly winds. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Wednesday 4th December:

Bright with occasional showers during the morning, becoming mainly dry in the afternoon. Winds easing for a time, but turning wet and very windy in the evening. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Severe gale force winds early on Thursday, then blustery showers. Bright with a scattering of showers on Friday, the showers turning increasing wintry on Saturday, winds becoming northerly.
