Wintry showers over Shetland, turning more persistent and increasingly to rain in the south. Windy at times. Cloudy with showers or more persistent rain over Orkney. Lighter winds. Maximum temperature 3 °C.

Tonight:

Rain over Orkney, or sleet over Shetland, will turn increasingly to showers through the early hours, these showers wintry over Shetland. Minimum temperature -1 °C.

Sunday 5th January:

Another cold day. Bright spells and scattered showers, these showers wintry at times over Shetland, and freshening northeast winds. Maximum temperature 2 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Northerly gales and showers or longer spells of rain or sleet on Monday and Tuesday. Further wintry showers on Wednesday as northerly winds begin to ease.
