YELLOW WARNING SNOW AND ICE

Some bright or sunny intervals and frequent sleet and snow showers, heavy at times, though any fresh lying snow will be on high ground. The chance of hail and thunder. Feeling bitterly cold with strong or gale force northerly winds. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Tonight:

Staying cold and windy with further wintry showers, bringing some slight accumulations to lower levels over Shetland. The gales should ease a little overnight. Minimum temperature 0 °C.

Wednesday 8th January:

Another bright but cold day with occasional sleet and snow showers, these settling to low levels especially over Shetland. Fresh northerly winds. Maximum temperature 3 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Sunny intervals and wintry showers on Thursday, fresh northwest winds. More sunshine and fewer showers on Friday and Saturday the showers more of rain, lighter winds.
