YELLOW WARNING SNOW AND ICE

Another bright but cold day with occasional sleet and snow showers, these settling to low levels especially over Shetland. Strong to gale northerly winds slowly easing. Maximum temperature 3 °C.

Tonight:

Clear intervals and further sleet and snow showers, giving further slight accumulations and some icy stretches. Fresn northerly winds will continue. Minimum temperature 0 °C.

Thursday 9th January:

Another bright cold day with a mixture of clear or sunny intervals and further wintry sohwers. Moderate to fresh northerly winds. Maximum temperature 3 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

More sunshine and fewer showers on Friday and Saturday the showers more of rain, lighter winds. Rain on Sunday with strong southwesterly winds, milder with a thaw,
