A new podcast series by leading scientists in the Scottish Alliance for Geoscience, Environment and Society (SAGES) explores and explains what is happening with our climate.

The SAGES Climate Science Podcast is available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube, offering accessible and engaging discussions for a wide audience.

Supported by the Scottish Government’s Climate Engagement Fund 2024/2025, the SAGES Climate Science Podcast, consists of a discussion format where the presenter, Laura Young, does a great job introducing each of the topics and asking questions of the scientists in the studio.

Episode 1 exploring Earth’s climate history, tracing its transformation from ancient times to the present features the University of Aberdeen’s Professor Matteo Spagnolo, glaciologist, and Director of SAGES . This episode sets the tone for the series, diving into the evidence behind climate change and what distinguishes today’s crisis from historical shifts, with a strong focus on Scotland.

Professor Spagnolo said:

“The podcast reflects Scotland’s commitment to addressing climate change through collaborative research and public engagement.

“The podcast features an exciting combination of early career and experienced academics, which together present and discuss some of the most striking aspects of climate change and the implications for Scotland.

“Delivered in both a video and audio format, it is an enjoyable and accessible way to connect listeners with the important work carried out by geoscientists in Scotland’s universities which can make a real difference to some of the biggest climate challenges the world is facing.”
