Four projects in Orkney are benefitting from the latest round of funding from The National Lottery Community Fund.

Burray Community Association has been awarded £7,800 : This two-year award will fund various music events, and crafting workshops to bring together different members of the community, offering a social outlet for people of all ages.

Rousay School Parent Council has been awarded £6,667: This one-year project will replace and improve a condemned play park at the local school on Rousay, ensuring it is accessible and friendly for children with disabilities.

Sanday Afternoon Club has been awarded £7,800: This two-year award will fund a coordinator’s salary and minibus running costs. The project provides weekly lunches, activities, and transportation services for individuals over 50 living on the small island of Sanday. The minibus also serves as a community resource, offering free transport for older people, people with disabilities, and local schoolchildren.

The Craft Hub SCIO has been awarded £15,968: This two-year project will establish ‘The Space,’ a permanent community hub in Rousay to reduce isolation, foster intergenerational connections, and create a welcoming space for the community.

There were 549 funding awards made throughout Scotland totalling £23,363,413.
