A £300k additional boost of funding to Orkney Islands Council will help it to deliver energy saving measures to homes in the islands through Warmworks.
The Council was awarded £1.21m for home energy efficiency measures for 2024-25 from the Scottish Government’s 2024-25 Heat and Energy Efficient Scotland: Area Based Scheme (HEES: ABS). Most of that money had been allocated to the homeowners successfully applying to the scheme.
Orkney’s funding fell by £750k from the previous year but the £300k means that around 30 homes which were already assessed by Warmworks , but awaiting the funding boost, can now proceed with the scheme.

- 2023 – 24 £1.86m worth of energy efficiency measures were installed
- 2022 – 23 £1.74m worth of energy efficiency measures were installed
Orkney had hoped to get £2.25m for 2024 – 25, but The Scottish Government has had to cut back on this funding due to the pressures on their own Budget, keeping our public services funded.
Home owners who are looking to try and improve the energy efficiency of their property are encouraged to speak to Warmworks, who can advise on other sources of help and/or offer an assessment for eligibility for future HEES: ABS funding.
