A cloudy day with the odd spot of light rain in the morning, turning occasionally heavier for Shetland in the afternoon. Southwesterly winds will quickly strengthening to gale force this morning. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Tonight:

Southwesterly gales easing tonight. Outbreaks of rain for Orkney, easing towards dawn. Meanwhile Shetland will become dry this evening for a time before rain returns in the early hours. Mild. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Wednesday 5 March:

A overcast day with southwesterly gales. Patchy rain across the isles will be occasionally heavy for Shetland in the morning. Mild. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Outbreaks of rain spreading north on Thursday, but drier and brighter for Orkney later and winds easing. Mainly dry on Friday and Saturday with occasional bright periods and light winds.
