Mark Refugee week with lunch at the St Magnus Centre, Kirkwall, on Sunday 22 June from 12 noon till 2pm.

The event is being organised by Orkney Friends of Palestine and Amnesty International Orkney. The annual lunch event is the biggest fundraiser for Shu’fat, consistently attracting around 100 people and raising over £800.

Orkney Friends of Palestine (OFoP) have supported the Al Quds centre in the Shu’fat refugee camp, East Jerusalem for a decade, ever since Gaynor Jones, the current OFoP Chair, spent several weeks working there.

Since May 2025, support is now needed even more than before because UNWRA is no longer permitted by the Israeli authorities to provide education and health care
