A determined group of about 210 U.S. expats, Canadians, British, and Germans exercised their right to free speech in blistering heat in Frankfurt, Germany to observe “No Kings” day, Saturday, June14.
The band of protesters was giving Donald Trump a thumbs down on his dictatorial authoritarianism during his second presidency. Gathered in front of the city’s historic concert hall, Alte Oper, the group heard rousing statements condemning the U.S. regime’s expensive, North-Korean-style parade in honour of Trump’s 79th birthday. The MAGA crowd in the U.S. was claiming it was to celebrate Flag Day and the U.S. Army.

Organized in Frankfurt by the local chapter of Democrats Abroad, the No Kings event was part of 2000 rallies held in the U.S. and overseas. The peaceful protest and march in Frankfurt included anti-Trump chants, singing patriotic songs, and listing the many deficiencies of the present government from shipping residents off to foreign prisons without giving them their due rights before courts of law, eliminating health benefits to citizens in order to give billionaires tax breaks, and the destruction of a woman’s right to control her own body.

Creative home-made signage, paper crowns with “No Kings!”, and protesters dressed in historic costumes were on display as the group walked their way under police protection to the city centre.
