Visitors to Orkney including those taking part in the International Island Games joined with local islanders in Vigil on Saturday 12 July.

Every Saturday since the end of October 2023 islanders in Orkney have held a vigil for #Gaza. Each week they are joined by visitors to the islands to call for an immediate ceasefire, the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, and the release of all hostages.

Saturday was also the opening day of the International Island Games being hosted this year by Orkney.

Kirkwall was very busy, so it was much appreciated when visitors and some of those taking part in the Games took time out to join the vigil which is held on the Kirk Green from 1 to 2pm.

The memorial flags to some of those killed in the Gaza Genocide includes the names of many Palestinian sportsmen.

The vigil will again take place this Saturday 19 July, between 1 and 2 pm on the Kirk Green. All are welcome who want to see an end to the atrocities taking place in Gaza.
