A cloudy morning with outbreaks of rain. Turning drier in the afternoon across Shetland with some late sunshine and a few showers, but remaining cloudy with further rain across Orkney. Strong southwest winds with a risk of gales at times. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Tonight:

A mostly cloudy evening with rain or showers, but turning dry by the start of the night with clear spells developing over Orkney. Occasionally heavy rain towards dawn. Strong winds. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Saturday 9 August :

Early morning heavy rain soon clears east to give some good sunny spells in the morning. Cloudier by the afternoon with some rain or showers. Strong to gale force winds. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Mainly dry, bright and breezy on Sunday. Outbreaks of rain but winds easing on Monday. Turning warmer but a chance of further rain on Tuesday.
