By Bernie Bell.

I saw that there’s an exhibition of Jennifer Austin’s porthole seascapes in the Orkney Museum, Tankerness House and I thought…Portholes – Portals – The Sea – The Sky – Oh My!  …and worked my days around being able to go to see them

Approaching the door to the exhibition-room, we see  ‘Sun Down Shimmers’  in the distance – a taste of what’s to come

Walking clockwise round the room, I’ll present the images which most appealed to me – a purely personal preference.

‘Moon Jellies’

‘Sun lit’

‘Moon lit’

‘The Returning Tide’

‘Sun Down Shimmers’

And finally ‘Sea light – Blue Velvet’

This is actually printed onto the light fitting – imagine!

These images, and how they’re presented, did me good.  They’re the kind of art-work that takes you out of yourself and into clear, open spaces to help to clear your head.  Very much needed in these times.

It’s not a big exhibition – but it’s full of light and LIFE – beautifully lit.  Itruns until the 25th October.

Opening Times:

Monday to Saturday

10:30-17:00

(Closes between 12:30-13:30)
