Shetland bright with sunny spells and showers with a freshening northeasterly breeze. A cloudier day for Orkney with rain, heavy at times, gradually becoming lighter and patchier this afternoon as the occasionally strong easterly breeze turns more northeasterly. Maximum temperature 9 °C.
Tonight:
Cloudy with patchy rain across Orkney at first, otherwise clear spells and occasional showers for the Northern Isles this evening and overnight. Occasionally strong northeasterly winds easing. Minimum temperature 3 °C.
Thursday 30 October :
A few morning showers around, but generally a dry and bright day with some sunny spells. Outbreaks of rain reach Orkney in the evening. Strengthening southeasterly winds, with gales later. Maximum temperature 11 °C.
Outlook for Friday to Sunday:
Remaining unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain through Friday and the weekend. Windy on Friday with occasional southeasterly then southwesterly gales, but winds lighter through the weekend.
