By Bernie Bell.

First, a walk along the beach at Dingies Howe

where we saw an example of how coastal erosion takes its toll

a crumbling coastline with little stones and a stairway to the top

Years ago, we walked along to the beginning of these steps then up, right round the headland and back along the road.  The fit and soople could still manage it, just about, but for us, it’s a memory.

Back through the dunes, where we saw a  reminder of the on-going Orkney stoat problem

Seen a stoat notice

Then across the road to Sandi Sand

…where we saw a couple of Snow Bunting on the beach  (a bit fuzzy, as far away!)

Then…to the Dashing Deer for lunch…..

..where we were greeted by a jolly Halloween display

The food was, as always, delicious

selection of food including soup and chips

Both the waitress and the chef took great care to make sure that Mike’s dietary requirements were catered for.

We had a look in the shop too.  I know….it’s a bit early…..but…well…couldn’t help thinking….Christmas presents?
