A rather cloudy start with some patchy light rain around but becoming dry by late morning with, especially across Orkney, some brighter spells developing. Occasionally strong southwesterly winds slowly easing. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Tonight:

Dry but cloudy to start. Light rain arriving in Orkney in the late evening, spreading further northeast to Shetland through the night. Becoming dry for Orkney by morning. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Friday 12 December :

Cloud soon clearing Orkney, becoming dry and sunny all day. Cloud and light rain clearing Shetland around midday, staying dry and sunny in the afternoon. Light southwest winds freshen later. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Remaining unsettled through the weekend and on Monday with showers or longer spells of occasionally heavy rain. Mild, with strong to gale force southerly or southwesterly winds.
