Across Scotland hospital admissions with laboratory confirmed cases of Influenza and Covid have started to decrease, however, in Orkney they have both increased. The data is provided by Public Health Scotland published 18 December.

Influenza – Hospital admissions Scotland 912, down from 1,039. Hospital Occupancy Scotland 777 up from 688. Four people were admitted to Hospital in Orkney.

Covid – acute admissions to hospital in Scotland, 81 down from 87 the previous week.

The graph shows the rate of confirmed Covid admissions to Hospital. The blue line is NHS Orkney, the black line Scotland. There was one person admitted to Hospital in Orkney with Covid.

National Records of Scotland Weekly Deaths published 18 December : There were 76 deaths that mentioned influenza on the death certificate, 39 more than in the previous week. Influenza was the underlying cause in 67 of these deaths.

There were 14 deaths in Scotland which involved Covid. Covid was the main cause in half of those deaths. There were no Covid related deaths in Orkney.
