Cloudy with outbreaks of rain throughout the day, heavy at times. Some drier spells across Orkney in the afternoon. Feeling cold with strong to gale force southeasterly winds. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Tonight:

Outbreaks of rain through the night but becoming drier towards dawn. The strong southeasterly wind will continue to be unrelenting, reaching severe gale force at times. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Thursday 22 January :

A mainly cloudy day with a few brief showers, these turning wintry on the hills. Feeling cold with southeasterly gales continuing. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Cloudy and cold on Friday and Saturday with a few showers, wintry at times. Remaining cold on Sunday with some snow showers. Strong southeasterly winds slowly easing.
