Cloudy with heavy rain spreading northeast. Orkney turns dry through the afternoon, but rain continues in Shetland. Strong winds for Orkney but gales or possibly severe gales for Shetland. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Tonight:

Rain clears Shetland, then a dry evening with clear spells, especially for Orkney. Turning cloudier overnight with outbreaks of rain spreading northwards. Strong southeasterly winds with risk of coastal gales. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Sunday 12 April :

A mixed day of sunny spells and blustery showers, which may be heavy at times. Strong southeasterly winds and risk of coastal gales. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Bright or sunny spells with showers on Monday. Mostly dry with sunny spells on Tuesday. Cloudier on Wednesday with outbreaks of rain. Winds becoming light then strengthening on Wednesday.
